They are highly arboreal and spend most of their time climbing through trees and basking in the sun.
Personality & Qualities
Cuban Knight Anoles are intelligent, alert, and highly visual reptiles. They are known for observing their surroundings carefully and often recognizing feeding routines. While they can become accustomed to their caretakers, they are generally display animals rather than handling pets.
Daily Care
Provide fresh water daily and mist the enclosure regularly. Monitor temperatures and humidity levels closely. Spot-clean waste as needed and provide plenty of enrichment through climbing opportunities and environmental variety.
Diet
A healthy Cuban Knight Anole diet includes: Crickets Dubia roaches Hornworms Silkworms Superworms Occasional pinky mice for large adults Dark leafy greens Small amounts of fruit Commercial omnivore diets when appropriate Calcium and vitamin supplementation should be provided regularly.
Housing Requirements
Cuban Knight Anoles require large vertical habitats. Recommended setup includes: Minimum adult enclosure: 4' x 2' x 4' Larger enclosures strongly encouraged Multiple climbing branches Live or artificial plants Elevated basking areas Multiple hiding spots Strong ventilation Secure enclosure Height is extremely important due to their arboreal lifestyle.
Temperature & Humidity
Ambient Temperature: 75–85°F Basking Area: 90–95°F Night Temperature: 70–75°F Humidity: 60–80% Daily misting and proper airflow are important for maintaining healthy humidity levels.
Common Mistakes

Vet Care Recommendations
Annual wellness exams with an exotic veterinarian are recommended. Monitor for respiratory infections, metabolic bone disease, parasites, shedding issues, and dehydration. Routine fecal exams can help identify health concerns before they become serious.
Things to Know Before Buying
Cuban Knight Anoles are best suited for keepers looking for an active and visually impressive arboreal reptile. Their size, environmental requirements, and sometimes defensive temperament make them more suitable for intermediate reptile keepers.
